Buckholts town is located in Milan County in the US state of Texas. Its population was estimated at 515, according to the 2010 census. The town was established in 1881 when the railway was built through the area. It was named after John A. Buckholts on whose land the town was built. The town was granted a post office in 1882. By 1884, it had a lumber dealer, a dry goods store, two hotels, two general stores, and a population of 61. The area’s backland soils attracted many immigrants from Austria, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. In the early 1920s, it had a hospital, a movie theater, and about 1000 residents.
