The US city of Buda is located in Hays County in the state of Texas. Its population according to the 2010 census was 7,295. This was an increase from the 42,404 recorded in the 2000 census. The city’s 2018 estimated population was 16,449. Buda is among the country’s fastest-growing suburbs, with its residents often referred to as Budans. Buda town sprung up in 1880 along the International-Great Northern Railroad, having been extended To San Antonio from Austin. Buda was originally named Du Pre until 1887 when postal officials were made aware of another Texan town by the same name.
