The US city of Buffalo is located in Leon County in the state of Texas. Its population as per the 2010 census was 1,856. The city covers an area of about four square miles, 0.04 square miles of which is water. The 2000 census recorded a population of 1,804 people living in 668 households, which included 474 families. Tom Araya, a renowned vocalist, is one of the most notable people born or raised in Buffalo. Buffalo hit global news headlines in 1959 when a plane from Houston en route to Dallas crashed in the area, killing 29 passengers and five crew members.
