The United States city of Burkburnett is found in Wichita County, in the State of Texas. It is close to the Red River where the State Highway 240 and the Interstate Highway 44, intersect. This is approximately ten miles from the world renowned Wichita Falls. The city is all land and is about 9.5 square miles. In 1856, the place had been settled by ranchers but it was not until 1882 that it got its first post office. Oil was discovered in the year 1912 to the west of this town. Significant strides were made and this made many people to move to this town. The town enjoyed an oil boom that led to local refineries being developed but in the late 1920’s, this boom died.
