The US unincorporated community of Burlington is situated in Milam County in the state of Texas. Although unincorporated, the community enjoys the services of a post office whose postal code is 76519. The Burlington community was first known as Irish settlement. Itinerant priests would minister here until a Catholic church was constructed in the mid-1880s. When the area got its post office at Timothy Gleason’s home in 1884, the town was renamed to Waterford. Gleason would later rename the town to Burlington after a town by a similar name in Vermont. In the census of 1990 and 2000, the town reported a population of 140.
