The US unincorporated community of Caddo is found in Stephens County in the state of Texas. The name Caddo originates from a former campsite established by the Caddo Indians in the late 1870s. Between 1916 and 1917, there was an oil boom nearby. The oil boom is commonly referred to as the Ranger oil boom. The boom led to an increase in the population of this community. Although Caddo is an unincorporated community, it has a post office. James Fields, a recipient of a congressional honor medal of the World War II, was born in Caddo. Blackenridge Independent School District provides public education in this community.
