Recognized as ‘The Jewel’ of Lone Star State, Canyon Lake is situated on the Guadalupe River. Canyon Lake is a tourist attraction in Texas. It was formerly known as Canyon Reservoir. Canyon Lake is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Settlement in the area began in 1964. Canyon Lake is known for water recreation. The unincorporated community changed from farm and ranch communities into commercial centers. In late 1980s, two schools and thirteen churches were built. In 2007, the Canyon Lake Gorge was opened for public tours by the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority.
