In southwestern Morris County lies Cason and the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway. The town grew around a station that was constructed in the late 1870s. William M Cason was responsible for naming the town after his father. The community is located within the Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District. Many businesses came from Snow Hill, three miles north. By 1884 Cason had an estimated population of 200. The main job opportunity was the bedspring factory which was in operation by 1892. The population decreased after World War II. As of 2000 census, Cason city has an estimated population of 173.
