Chriesman, Texas can be found in northwestern of Burleson County. Alexander Thomson Jr brought a group of colonists to the site in the 1830s. the original name was Yellow Prairie due to the high yellow grass that surrounded the prairie. In 1885 the community was renamed Chriesman in honor of Horatio Chriesman, a pioneer in the region who spent the last years of his life in the area. An interesting structure that has existed would be the ‘Bottle House’ near the community center. It is a cottage built from thousands of wine bottles on the old Dunaway store site. Today, Chriesman is a ghost town with only the post office remaining.
