Crandall is a city in Kaufman County. It was developed when the Texas Trunk Line Railway decided to lay tracks through the area in 1880. It was named after Reverend C. F. Crandall, who donated a part of his land to allow the railroad to push through. Consequently, the community was quickly developed and Crandall became a shipping point for its farmers. In 1881, the town had its own post office and three years later, it had a gristmill, a cotton gin, a church, and a school. In the mid-1920s, Crandall had fifty businesses, including two banks. As the Great Depression hits town, its population dropped and some residents have moved to work in the cities during the WWII in search of higher-paying jobs. In 1988, Crandall only had fifteen business left.
