Dennis is an incorporated town in Parker County. In 1892, when a bridge was built across the Brazos River, Judge N. M. Dennis founded and developed the community to serve the area ranchers and farmers. Three years after, a post office was granted; however, the town never developed further than just a church and school community. The number of residents exceeded a hundred between the 1950s and 1960s; however, it declined by four counts towards the 1990s. As of the year 2000, the town has 90 residents, along with a post office, a volunteer fire station, a baptist church, and a golf course. Although there have been many attempts to open a market over the years, the propositions have all failed.
