Dripping Springs is a city in Hays County. It was founded in 1849 when a man named Fawcett first settled in the area. In the 1850s, other settlers moved in and started farming. Seven years later, a post office was established and the town became a regional center shortly before the Civil War started. Since Dripping Springs is located on the road between Austin and Fredericksburg, the city remained to be prosperous. In 2014, Dripping Springs was called a Dark Sky Community, in which the city attracted a new breed of tourists. On the last weekend of March, the city hosts its annual Dark Sky festivals, drawing thousands of “Astro-tourists.” In addition, an HEB grocery store and Home Depot are located near its junction. The city is also the wedding capital of Texas and a prominent tourist spot, where it features a brewery, distillery, and winery destination.
