Dunn is an unincorporated community in Scurry County. It was originally a change station for freighters hauling goods. The teams camped in the community; a blacksmith shop and a store were established to serve for them. It was named after Alonzo Dunn, the landowner of the townsite back in 1889. His house became a mail drop and a year after, it became the official post office, having Dunn as postmaster. That same year, a school was opened and a well, windmill, and tough were added for the town’s travelers. However, since the well was situated in the middle of the road, it was covered by the Highway 208’s new road.
