The US city of Edcouch is located in Hidalgo County in the state of Texas. The city’s estimated population was 3,161 as per the 2010 census. In 1927, the city’s townsite was developed and named after Edward Couch, a prominent banker, and landowner. A post office was opened in the area in 1927. By 1931, Edcouch was shipping cotton, vegetables, and citrus fruits. Besides, it boasted of a weekly newspaper and an estimated population of 914. In 1933, the town was incorporated. At the time, it had 35 businesses. In the 2000 census, the city had a population of 3,342, an increase from the 2,878 reported in 1990.
