Elysian Fields is situated in the county of Harrison in Texas, US. It is an unincorporated community which was originally the site of Caddo village. Its name can be traced back to 1817, when Captain Edward Smith took a ride through this village and likened it to the Elysian Fields of the Greek Mythology. It is found at the intersection of Farm Roads 451 and 31. Elysian Fields lie approximately 11 miles from the seat of Marshall County. In 1840, Texas Congress established a mail route and subsequently the first post office was opened. In the 18th century, lumber and cotton formed the community’s economic base.
