The US city of Falfurrias is found in Brooks County in the state of Texas. The city also serves as Brooks County’s county seat. The city’s population was 4,981 in 2010 as per the 2010 census. The city was named after La Mota de Falfurrias, a prominent rancher in the area at the time. At 350,000 acres, Falfurrias’ ranch was among Texas’ largest in 1893. The founding and subsequent development of the city is attributed to Edward Cunningham Lasater. He was a pioneer developer and rancher in Rio Grande Valley. In 1911, the area was granted its request to form Brooks County with the city as its county seat.
