Fannin is an unincorporated community in eastern Goliad County, Texas. It is part of the Victoria, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fannin is named for James Walker Fannin Jr, who commanded the group of Texans killed in the Goliad Massacre during the Texas Revolution. Fannin Battleground memorializes the brave soldiers who fought the Battle of Coleto Creek on this site in 1836 during the Texas War for Independence. The Coleto Creek Reservoir is a venue for outdoor activities. Ironically, the county seat, Bonham is named for James Bonham, who sought Fannin's aid at the Battle of the Alamo.
