Elected as the county seat of Robertson County, Franklin was established in 1872 with the first name Morgan. It is located near the geographical center of the county. The main sources of revenue were farming and ranching. The territory to the south and east of Franklin is a hunter's paradise. A huge windstorm in 1913 destroyed the four churches in Franklin. To a stranger, Franklin may seem ‘a sleepy little town’, but with a courthouse in the center it is the total opposite. The tallest man in the world, James Grover Tarver was born here in 1885.
