George West used to be a ranching enterprise of George Washington West and Kittie west who were originally from Tennessee. George West began with building the town in 1913. The man offered a hundred grand to San Antonio, Uvalde, and Gulf Railroad to build a community in the area. George West was incorporated in 1946. The city is located in Live Oak County in Texas and has a population of 2,445 residents as of the 2010 census. The U.S Bureau states that the town has a total area of twelve square miles. George West is distributed by its own Independent School District.
