James Bowie surveyed the land where Geronimo is located now in 1831. The community was named after natural springs in the area called “Tio Geronimo”. Jose Antonio Navarro was the one that purchased the land and liver here. German settlers moved to the area in 1860 and formed a coterie. By 1891 the community was already a small town with a post office, a general store, and a steam-powered cotton gin. Geronimo is still an unincorporated community and a CDP. Geronimo is located in Guadalupe County and has a total population of 1,032 as of the 2010 census. The total area of the town is 8.1 square miles all of it is land.
