Giddins is a city and the county seat of Lee County in Texas. The city’s total population was 5,665 as of the 2010 census. The city has a motto: “Giddins, Texas: Experience Hometown Hospitality”. The city of Giddins was founded in 1871 when the Houston and Texas Central Railway was passing through the area. The town was probably named after a local tycoon named Jabez Deming Giddins. Giddins became the county seat of Lee County when the county was established in 1874. Giddins was incorporated in 1913. The U.S Bureau stated that the town has a total area of 5.2 square miles.
