Glidden’s townsite was originally founded by the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway in 1885. The post office was established just three years after. Glidden is an unincorporated coterie and a CDP located in Colorado County in Texas. The community’s population was 661 as of the 2010 census. The U.S Bureau stated that the town’s total area was exactly one square mile. The town reached a population of 400 people in 1925, but has fallen to 150 at one point and rose back up as the town’s population is at its peak right now. The community itself is situated just three miles west of Columbus which is the county seat of Colorado County.
