Golden, Texas is an unincorporated community that is located in Wood County in Texas. The community lies at the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 779, 1799, and U.S Highway 69. The town’s settlement begins in 1865, and the community wasn’t established until the 1870s just when a sawmill was built by C.W. Tucker. The town has gotten its name from a railroad engineer named John Golden. By 1885, the town comprised of a school and a post office. In 1914, the town reached its peak population with around 650 residents. The community had around 156 residents as of the year 1990.
