Goldsmith is a city situated in Ector County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 257. When Permian Basin Oil was being in development, that is when the community started to grow. In 1936, Imogene Bunn applied the community for a post office with the name Ector City, it was denied as there is another town named this way. The town was named in honor of a rancher, C.A. Goldsmith. The city is located twenty miles northwest of Odessa which is the county seat of Ector County. The city is being distributed by the Ector Independent School District.
