Goodrich is a city located in Polk County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 271. The city was actually named for a local landowner named William M. Goodrich. The town was established when the Houston, East and West Texas Railway was passing through Polk County in 1870. The town’s post office was built in 1882, but until Wilson W. Armitage opened the store in the area in 1900, the growth of the town was close to zero. The population was around 200 in the 1920s, it rose to its peak of 350 in the 1980s and diminished to what it is today. Goodrich’s public education system is being distributed by the Goodrich Independent School District.
