Gordon is located in Palo County in Texas. The city’s population was 478 as of the 2010 census. The town’s history began in 1864 when the community by the name of Hampton was founded. Gordon was planned to be one mile south of Hampton, by the Texas and Pacific Railway. The town was named for a certain Gordon who was a civil engineer that explored the land of the townsite. The city of Gordon’s public education system is being served by the Gordon Independent School District. The town’s total area has exactly one square mile as stated by the U.S Bureau.
