Gorman is a city located in Eastland County in Texas. The town’s population went down from 1,236 at the 2000 census, to 1,083 at the 2010 census. The town was originally named Shinoak, but as the post office was established in 1889, the name Gorman was submitted. The town itself was incorporated in 1902. The town holds an annual Gorman Peanut Festival which is always set on the second Saturday of September. Gorman has a total area of 1.7 square miles according to the U.S Bureau. The city of Gorman is being distributed by its own Independent School District.
