Haslet is a city that is mostly in Tarrant County and partly in Denton County. It is located on FM 156, roughly sixteen miles northwest of Fort Worth. The area was founded around 1880, but it wasn’t until 1883 that a community was formed, when a railway was extended through the town. Four years later, a post office was opened under the name of Haslet, after the railway contractor’s hometown in Michigan. During the WWII, war-related employment in Fort Worth was made available to Haslet. As a result, the town continued its growth. Still, Haslet is relatively small with a number of residents that’s barely scraping the 2,000 mark. As of 2000, its population was 1,134.
