Hereford is a county seat of Deaf Smith County, Texas. The population of this city was 15,370 as of 2010 census. It is the only consolidated location that goes by its name. This particular town earned the title “The Town Without a Toothache” because of sky-high amounts of fluoride which is very commonly used to shield against tooth decay. The immense digit of livestock fed in the area also earned them a nickname “Beef Capital of the World”. The town was founded in 1899 as “Blue Water”, but there was already another town going by this name, so it was changed to Hereford in tribute to the cattle of the local farmers and the city in the United Kingdom.
