Hitchcock is a city situated in Galveston County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 6,961. The town’s settlement began in around 1873 when the railroad between Galveston and Houston was being built. When the twentieth century started, the town became a vegetable shipping center. The town’s top population was in the 1970s with around seven thousand people living in Hitchcock. The U.S Bureau states that the city has a total area of 92.1 square miles, and 31.6 square miles of it is water. Most of the city’s public education system is being distributed by the Hitchcock Independent School District.
