Hooks is a city located in Bowie County in Texas. The population of the town was 2,769 as of the 2010 census. The town’s establishment dates back to the 1830s. The community slowly started to appear around Warren Hook’s plantation. The town’s railroad arrived in 1876. The town’s post office was granted in 1884. By the 1890s, the town had an estimated population of around 250, the population had its ups and downs but is at its current peak right now. The city has a total area of 2.1 square miles. Hooks Independent School District provides the city’s public education.
