Humble is a town that is situated in Harris County, Texas, in the Houston area. Prominently, the town became an oil boomtown at the beginning of the 20th century. Oil was first discovered here in 1903. By 1905. This oilfield was the highest producing oilfields in Texas. Humble Oil was located in this town, antecedent to Exxon. The town’s population was 15,133 at the 2010 census. The first settler came in around the 1830s, Joseph Dunman. The city was named after one of its original founders, Smith Humble. Humble endured as a small and quiet city, until 1959 when Houston International Airport was opened.
