Huntington is a city located in Angelina County, Texas. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 2,118. The town got its name from Collis Potter Huntington who used to be the chairman of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Huntington also has a nickname, “Getaway to Lake Sam Rayburn”. The city was founded in exactly 1900. But it was later incorporated on December 12, 1938. Fowler Burris was the first mayor of the town. The town is situated in eastern Angelina County, and by the U.S Bureau, it has a total area of 2.7 square miles, all of it being land.
