Ingleside is a city located in both Nueces and San Patricio counties in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the city’s population was 9,387. Naval Station Ingleside was a U.S Navy base, but it was closed on August 24, 2005. The earliest coterie of the town began in 1854. George C. Hatch purchased the lands on both sides of the Bayou. In 1855 Marcellus and George Turner settled in the area. Two years later, Marcellus was granted the right to establish a post office in the community. Hatch opened the general store as well, with Youngs L. Coleman. The city’s total area is 14.4 square miles, 0.1 square miles is water. Ingleside Independent School District distributes the area’s public education system.
