Iowa Colony is an incorporated Type A General Law City in Brazoria County in Texas. The town’s population was 1,170 as of the 2010 census. The city was established in 1908 by the Immigration Land Company of Des Moines in Iowa. The community’s post office was granted in 1919, and rice farming was introduced to the community just one year later. The town was incorporated in 1973. The total area of Iowa Colony is 7.33 square miles according to the U.S Bureau. The community’s public educational system is being distributed by the Alvin Independent School District. The town’s elevation is 59 feet.
