Italy is a town placed in Ellis County in Texas. The town’s population was 1,863 as of the 2010 census. The settler that had inhabited the land visited the European country and named the town after it. The town itself was founded in 1879. The colonists found this land appropriate for wheat, sweet potatoes, and cotton. The diminishing that lasted over 3 decades was caused by The Great Depression that occurred during the 1930s. Italy’s population and the economy started to grow again in the 1970s. By the statement of the U.S Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.8 square miles with all of it being land.
