Jacksboro is a city situated in Jack County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population of the town was 4,511. Jacksboro is the county seat of Jack County. The community used to be called Mesquiteville when it was first settled in the 1850s. The community blossomed along Lost Creek. The coterie was renamed to what it is today in the glory of two brothers, Patrick and William Jack. By the state of the U.S Bureau, Jacksboro has a total area of 8.1 square miles, with just above 10% of it being water. The city itself is distributed by its own Independent School District.
