Rusk, which is a county seat is located North from Jacksonville. The city holds the nickname “Tomato Capital of the World”. Some of the yearly events occurring in the town are “Tomato Fest” and “Tops in Texas Rodeo”. The production and transport of Tomato’s earned the town its nickname. Some of the most beautiful attractions in Jacksonville are Nichols Green Park, Lake Jacksonville, and Loves Lookout Park. Lake Jacksonville is the paramount origin of water in the city. The lake was made in 1957. It was projected to take years to fill, but with abnormally high amounts of rain then, the lake was full within a year.
