Lackland is the U.S Air Force base and is located in Bexar County in Texas. Lackland is a part of JBSA with Fort Sam Houston and Randolph Air Force base. These 3 military facilities were merged on first October 2010. The construction of this Air Force base began on 15th June 1941. It used to be a part of Kelly Field. One year after that, Lackland became an individual organization called the San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center. The base was renamed to Lackland on February 3rd, 1948. In honor of Brigadier General Frank Lackland, who was actually authorized into the Army after serving in the National Guard.
