Randolph is another military facility that was merged with Fort Sam Houston and Lackland on the first of October 2010. Randolph is an U.S Air Force base just like Lackland. Randolph Air Force base was listed as a CDP due to statistical reasons. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,241. The Air Force base itself is named after Captain William Millican Randolph who was a native of Austin, the seat of Travis County. The plans to build the Air Force base were developed after the U.S Congress transit of the Air Crops. The Air Force base was opened in 1931.
