Jewett is a city located in Leon County in Texas. The city’s population was 1,167 as of the 2010 census. Plans of the city were laid out in 1871. By the International Railroad Company. The city itself is served by the Leon Independent School District. The town’s total area was 2.1 square miles according to the U.S Bureau, less than 1% of it being water. Jewett’s first Baptist Church dates all the way back to 1876. The city offers a wide variety of attractions sports competitions, outdoor concerts, seasonal festivals, and beautiful local parks. Jewett was also a cradle of Alger “Texas” Alexander, Romus Burgin, and Fritz Von Erich.
