Jonesville is an unincorporated coterie situated in eastern Harrison County, 20 miles east of Marshall, the country seat. The community’s first name was Border, due to its propinquity with Louisiana. It is believed that the community was founded in the 1840s. The town preserved its post office until 1849. Then, the town was renamed after the community’s first storekeeper, William Jones. When a close-by community named Concord merged with Jonesville, the town lost its identity and its post office. By 1892. The town’s community peaked with nearly 300 citizens, it was then in decline and slowly diminished to 100 in the present figure.
