The city of Kenedy is located in Karnes County in Texas. It has no association with Kenedy County. As of the 2010 census the city had a population of 3,296. The town was named for Mifflin Kenedy who was a Texas businessman. M.K. Bought 400,000 acres of land and had a pure intention of establishing a town that would be named after him. The town has gained the nickname “Six Shooter Junction” because of gunfighter shootings that occurred. The city itself is distributed by its own Independent School District. Kenedy is situated in south-central Karnes County. The town was incorporated in 1910.
