Kildare is an unincorporated coterie located in Cass County in Texas. Kildare’s first beginnings were as a station on the Texas and Pacific Railway in the 1870s. Kildare was named after a railroad official right when the post office was opened in 1874. In 1884, the town had a respectable population of around two hundred residents. A railway was built connecting Kildare and Linden which caused the town’s population to grow to around five hundred people. The population has declined over the years and is now an estimate of 106 residents as of the 2010 census. The community’s public education is distributed by the Linden-Kildare Independent School District.
