Kilgore is a city located in both Rusk and Gregg counties in Texas. Most of the town’s area is located in Gregg County. In 2018, the town’s population was 14,862 residents. Kilgore was established in 1872. There was a station in the area, a way of transportation to get profit for the crops, which managed to draw more people to the community. The town established a post office one year after it was founded. After 13 years of its existence, the town’s population counted up to 250 residents. Kilgore was incorporated in 1931. Some of the best tourist attractions in Kilgore are the East Texas Oil Museum at Kilgore College, Elder Lake, Texas Museum of Broadcasting and Communications, and Rangerette Showcase and Museum.
