Knippa is a CDP located in Uvalde County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the population of the town was 689. As the U.S Bureau states, the community has a total area of 5.2 square miles, while less than 2% of it is water. Knippa’s post office was opened in 1898. Gold was found in the area, and so a gold mine was opened just west of the town. In 1914. The population of the town was just about 50 residents. The town is located eleven miles East of Uvalde which is the county seat. Knippa is distributed by its own Independent School District.
