La Feria is a city located in Cameron County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 7,302. The lands date back to 1777. When Spanish colonists ruled it. It has remained a ranching center to the twentieth century. A land developer known as G.J. Schoenberg established the town of La Feria in 1909. Later that year, a post office was established by the same name. The town’s name means “the fair” in Spanish. The town was incorporated in 1933. The city is located twenty-four miles of Brownsville, which is the county seat of Cameron County. The town is distributed by its own Independent School District.
