La Porte is a city located in Harris County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 33,800. La Porte translates to “The Door” in French. The town was founded in 1892. And its name is was chosen by a real estate association. In the 1900s the town has had a population of around 500 residents. La Porte is located just twenty-two miles southeast of Houston which is the county seat of Harris County. The town has a total area of 20 square miles, while 1.4 square miles of it is water. Some of the best tourist attractions in La Porte are Sylvan Beach Park, Seabreeze Park, and Creekmont Park.
