La Pryor is a CDP located in Zavala County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 1,643. The town has gotten its name for colonist Isaac T. Pryor, who owned a ranch in the community’s area in the 1880s. The town has gained its post office in 1910. It is reported that herds of wild donkeys arrived in the town in the 1930s when the big drought occurred. The U.S Bureau states that the CDP has a total area of 2.7 square miles, all of it being land. The community itself is distributed by its own Independent School District.
