La Salle is an unincorporated coterie located in Jackson County in Texas. By the Handbook of Texas, the town’s population was 103 in 2000. A post office was opened from 1928-1930. The town’s name changed to La Salle in the late 1930s because of the French colonists in Texas. The community’s location is just sixteen miles south of Edna which is the county seat of Jackson County. The public education of the community is distributed by the Industrial Independent School District. Even though the community is unincorporated, it has its own post office. The town is placed on Farm to Market Road 616.
